Industrial Law of Nepal is mainly based on the Industrial Enterprises Act and Industrial Enterprises Rules.
Department of Industry is authorized to act as the regulatory agency for industries and implement Industrial Law of Nepal under instructions from the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies.
Registration with DOI is required to establish and operate industries in Nepal.
Only Government of Nepal may establishment and operate atomic energy, radio active materials manufacturing and industries related to energy based on atomic power and uranium.
Special permission is required to establish following industries:
- Arms and ammunition, explosive materials
- Security Printing, currency and coins
- Tobacco products and electronic cigarettes
- alcoholic products
- excavation and processing of stones, gravel and sand
- production of radio communication equipment
- excavation of precious minerals and petroleum products
- liquefied petroleum gas refilling
- Drone manufacture and service through drones
- Other as specified under law

- cottage industries
- small industries
- medium industries
- large industries

- Energy based industries
- Manufacturing industries
- Agriculture and forestry based industries
- Mining industries
- Infrastructure industries
- Tourism industries
- Information technology, communication technology and information broadcasting technology based industries
- Service industries
